Cattarissimo! My € 180 / Month Ice Cream Affair...

Early morning-to-mid-afternoon mountain climbs were fueled by a hearty post-summit breakfast of gourmet vegan ice cream.

Simple Math: Run all the miles = Eat all the food.

Much to my husband's chagrin, I've tried every single vegan gelato flavor from Cattarissimo in Kotor's Old Town, which makes me a self-professed authority on the subject.

It floors me how ice cream--vegan ice cream--can taste this spectacular! Far better than the overpriced Moritz Eis in town by scoops and bounds.

You can get a large cup, and add up to four flavors--five, if you're nice. Anything is possible. There are also other desserts and sweet treats artfully presented in their glass showcases for the non-vegan among us. They were pretty to look at, but my gaze would always wander back to...

I developed and refined this terrible habit over the course of a several-month stay in Kotor--stopping in each morning for what I christened "my daily breakfast." (I earned it after my workouts, right?).

When I return to Kotor, I shall resume my sacred and traditional pilgrimage.

Just don't tell my husband, lest I be subject to a severe tongue thrashing...
